1. General

Pursuant to the Laws of 1967, Chapter 306, Section 11-A, as amended by the Law of 1969, Chapter 93, the following Code of Conduct is applicable to all employees of The University of New Mexico and all independent contractors and consultants performing services for The University of New Mexico.

1.1. Business Ethics

Employees of the University and independent contractors and consultants performing services for the University shall maintain the highest standards of business ethics in transactions with the University; state, federal, and local governments; and the general public.

1.2. Outside Activities

Employees of the University and independent contractors and consultants performing services for the University are expected to perform duties faithfully and efficiently and never give rise to suspicion of improper conflict with interests of the University or any agency of the state government.

1.3. Gratuities

Employees of the University and independent contractors and consultants performing services for the University shall not accept any favor or gratuity from any person, firm, or corporation which is engaged in or attempting to do business with the University or any agency of state, or local governments which might affect the employee's judgment in the impartial performance of duties.
