President Frank Approved Five Policies

March 8, 2016

On March 8, 2016, President Frank approved two new policies and minor revisions to three existing policies.  Last semester, two new policies on Minors on Campus and on Recreational Drones were posted for a 30-day, all-campus review and comment period.  Afterwards, the Policy Office worked with stakeholders to address the comments received during the 30-day period and during additional discussions this semester, as follows:

NEW UAP 2205 (“Minors on Campus”)

  • The types of programs subject to the policy were clarified and more specific information was added about the training to be offered through Learning Central.

NEW UAP 2265 (“Recreational Drones”)

  • An exception was added to the general prohibition against flying recreational drones on campus, under which they may be flown for special events with advance notice and appropriate approvals.

Minor revisions to the three policies listed below were approved (outside of the formal policy review process) to conform the policies to, and clarify, current practices, as follows:

UAP 2060 (“Political Activity”)

  • A provision was added to clarify where political activity, such as petition signing, may occur on South Campus.  A vague reference to special South Campus rules was deleted.

UAP 2140 (“Use and Possession of Alcohol on University Property”)

  • Section 4.1 on the “Purchase of Alcohol” was amended to make it consistent with UAP 4000 (“Allowable and Unallowable Expenditures”).

UAP 6410 (“Museums and Collections”)

  • In Section 1, the legal name of the Harwood was added.  In Section 2, references to the Harwood’s governance structure were added, including mention of a new Regents’ policy on the Harwood.
