Acting President Abdallah Approves Minor Revisions

April 24, 2017

On April 21, 2017, Acting President Abdallah approved minor revisions to seven administrative policies:

UAP 2265 ("Recreational Drones")

  • Section 1 was revised to include a new requirement that UNM units notify Safety and Risk Services when drones are purchased or taken out of use. The information is forwarded to the State Risk Management Division for insurance purposes.

UAP 2480 ("Incentives for Program Participants")

  • At the Main Campus Institutional Review Board's request, the scope of Section 3.4 was revised to include an exception for Certificates of Confidentiality and refined the description of waivers of a signed consent.

UAP 3210 ("Recruitment and Hiring")

  • In Section 4.4, we added a bullet on providing a preference for a member of an underutilized group, so that this administrative policy is consistent with the corresponding Regents' policy.

UAP 3220 ("Ombuds Services and Dispute Resolution for Staff") and its Exhibit B ("Peer Hearing Procedure")

  • The revisions reflect the new role of the Main Campus Compliance Office in administering peer review panels, eliminate cumbersome processes, and update the Ombuds Office's name.

UAP 3600 ("Eligibility for Employee, Retiree, and Dependent Benefit Plans")

  • In Section 2.1, the benefits eligibility for temporary staff employees and adjunct faculty were extended one year to June 30, 2018.

UAP 6410 ("Museums and Collections")

  • The revisions correct the title of the Harwood Museum of Art, clarify administrative and reporting structures, and broaden the UNM Museum Council membership.

UAP 7000 ("Budgets and Reserves")

  • In response to an Internal Audit finding, Section 4.2 was revised to eliminate the exemption for providing deficit pay-off plans and to authorize multi-year plans.

In that these changes were minor and reflect current office names and practices, they were approved outside of the formal policy review process.
