Two UAP Available for All-Campus Review and Comment Period

A new draft policy, and revisions to an existing policy in the University Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual, are available for a 30-day, all-campus review and comment period.
Please submit your comments by close of business Wednesday, April 15th, 2026.
UAP 2715: Digital Accessibility is a new policy, crafted as part of UNM's efforts to ensure compliance with the U.S. Department of Justice's regulatory amendments to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, requiring public entities ensure their digital materials are accessible for individuals with a variety of disabilities. Please see the attached policy draft.
The policy outlines the following:
- Definition of terms related to digital accessibility
- Legal requirements for digital accessibility
- Creation of an Advisory Council on Digital Accessibility
- Outlining purchasing procedures to ensure vendor product accessibility
- Mechanism for reporting concerns related to digital accessibility
UAP 1100: Development and Approval of Administrative Policies has been updated to introduce and provide alignment with UNM's Policy Development Guiding Principles, alignment with existing business practices, and to allow more flexibility and expediency in the policy development process. Please see attached for both redline and clean copies.

- Introduction to UNM's Policy Development Guiding Principles
- New section on Definitions
- New section codifying the Policy Review Committee within the policy development process
- New section outlining policies/revisions subject to expedited review
- New section on Interim Policies
- New section on Public-Facing Comment Standards
- Modification of 30-day campus comment period to 21-day campus comment period
