Updates to Three Policies in the UAPPM Approved by President Stokes

June 29, 2026

Updates to three policies in the University Administrative Policies and Procedures Manual have been published to UNM’s policy portal, with revisions approved by President Stokes.

UAP 3415: Leave with Pay

The revisions to UAP 3415: Leave with Pay provide an important expansion to Paid Parental Leave, increasing the benefit from 160 hours (four weeks) to 320 hours (eight weeks) of paid leave.  The increase to eight weeks of paid leave positions UNM favorably among peer institutions and reduces reliance on accrued sick or annual leave. Please contact Human Resources with questions on how to access the expanded leave.

UAP 2715: Digital Accessibility

UAP 2715: Digital Accessibility is a new policy, crafted as part of UNM's efforts to ensure compliance with the U.S. Department of Justice's regulatory amendments to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, requiring public entities ensure their digital materials are accessible for individuals with a variety of disabilities. Please contact CEEO with questions on how to comply with the new policy.

UAP 6110: Environmental Health and Safety

Revisions to UAP 6110 add a new section on Embedded Safety Professionals (ESPs), who will serve a vital role on the UNM campus by providing direct support, advice, and training to units across campus. ESPs report to unit leadership either through a dotted or direct line and are accountable to the unit and to EHS. Please contact EHS with questions or policy interpretation.
