30-Day Campus Review and Comment Period

November 12, 2014

Three revised University Administrative Policies are available for review and comment by the campus community for a 30-day period (November 12th - December 12th). 

The policies under review include the following:

  • UAP 3435 ("Inclement Weather")  - The Provost's Office and several faculty members requested a minor change that affects Section 3 on "Delays and Closures."  Under the proposed revisions, when classes and laboratories are normally scheduled to be in progress at the time of a delayed start, they will begin at the delayed start time and end at their normally scheduled time.
  • UAP 3410 ("Sick Leave") and UAP 3440 ("Family and Medical Leave") - Proposed revisions were drafted to authorize the use of sick leave for bonding with a child after childbirth, adoption, or a foster care placement.  Currently, only annual leave may be used for bonding with a child.  In addition, Human Resources requested additional changes to Section 14 of UAP 3410 ("Sick Leave") to broaden the circumstances in which an employee may be required to obtain medical certification and Employee and Occupational Health Services clearance before returning to work after an absence for medical reasons.
